The incident took place in Hartford County around 8 p.m., Monday, July 17 on Oakland Terrace in Hartford.
According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford Police, patrol officers responded to a 911 caller reporting a domestic incident. When they arrived, officers were met by a man on the porch, suffering from injuries to his head.
The man said his mother had been shot and that a man was inside and armed.
Officers were able to quickly secure the suspect, identified as Lance Logan, age 60, of Hartford, Boisvert said.
The woman, identified as 64-year-old Carolyn Williams was located dead in the home with multiple gunshot wounds.
Boisvert said the son, in his 30s, was struck in the head with a firearm by Logan during the incident. He was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and assumed the investigation.
Probable cause was developed to charge Logan with the murder. He was also charged with:
- Criminal possession of a firearm
- Assault with a firearm/felony
- Violation of a protective order
Logan is being held on a $3 million bail.
